Matheus Cunha has said Manchester United were the team he ‘dreamed’ of representing after completing his transfer to the club from Wolves.

Cunha has signed a five-year contract after Manchester United activated the £62.5m release clause in the forward’s contract at Molineux.

The Brazil international was a priority target for Ruben Amorim as the Red Devils look to rebuild from a poor Premier League campaign.

Cunha has scored 27 goals in the Premier League and created 13 more across the last two seasons at Wolves. Last season, he ranked third in the Premier League for shots on target and second for fouls won.

After being unveiled, the 26-year-old said he can’t wait to link up with his new teammates and wear the red shirt for the first time.

“It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother’s house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt.

“I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.

“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my team-mates and prepare for the season ahead. All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.”
