Bielsa is currently managing Leeds United in the Championship but the former Club América superstar had rave reviews for the 63-year-old Argentine.

“If they ask me, I would like Marcelo Bielsa. I have always liked him, but if [Tuca] Ferretti remains he will have all our support since he is a great manager. He is a capable coach with strong character, but that is not my decision.”

The Mexican national team is seeking a long-term manager to lead the program into the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Current interim boss Tuca Ferretti has publicly explained his desire to honor his commitments to club side Tigres and only mange Mexico on a temporary basis.

Blanco was speaking at a legends match between Cruz Azul and América to say goodbye to the old Azul Stadium. Cuauh led the azulcrema contingent that also boasted former Brazilian midfielder Antonio Carlos Santos and Matías Vuoso.

The Cruz Azul veterans team was well represented by the likes of reliable striker Carlos Hermosillo and Argentine winger César ‘Chelito’ Delgado.
