As reported by Ignazio Genuardi, after failing to land Lille midfielder Xeka in the January transfer window, CSKA Moscow have moved onto a pair of Premier League targets to strengthen their midfield.

The Russian club’s two priorities are both former Ligue 1 players, Ivorian Jean-Philippe Gbamin (26) of Everton and Leicester City’s Senegal international Nampalys Mendy (29).

Mendy, who joined the Foxes from OGC Nice in 2016, came close to a loan move to Galatasaray in the summer but eventually remained in the Premier League but has only made one outing in all competitions this season.

Former Lens man Gbamin has only made eight appearances for Everton in total across a heavily injury affect spell since joining from Mainz in 2019.

The Russian transfer window closes tomorrow, February 22nd.
