GUATEMALA CITY – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continued with CSD Municipal earning a 2-1 win against Real España in Group B on Wednesday at Estadio El Trébol in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Real España pulled ahead in the 17’ with Daniel Aparicio heading home a delivery from Jhow Benavídez on a free kick opportunity.

The visitors came close to doubling the lead in the 23’, but a goal line clearance from Municipal’s backline, and subsequent stop from Kénderson Navarro denied Real España.

José Morales leveled the scoring for Municipal in the 65’, scoring with a powerful right-footed finish from close range following an initial attempt from Cristian Hernández that bounced off the crossbar.

José Martínez secured the comeback and important victory for Los Rojos in the 70’ with a left-footed hit after receiving a pass from Pedro Altán.

Both sides were forced to close out the match playing a man down due to red cards issued in the 90+6’. Municipal’s Martínez and Real España’s Nixon Cruz were the players sent off in stoppage time.

Real España will play its third match of the campaign when it hosts Cacique Diriangén FC next Wednesday. CSD Municipal will play its final Group Stage fixture on August 28 when it visits CS Herediano.
