Crystal Palace would be open to welcoming Conor Gallagher back to Selhurst Park this month, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth revealed to GIVEMESPORT.

Gallagher spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and Sheth insists he remains an option for the mid-table Premier League outfit.

Crystal Palace transfer news – Conor Gallagher

As the saying goes, never fall in love with a loan player. For Crystal Palace fans, they know that feeling all too well, having fawned over Gallagher while the midfielder was at the club last season.

Now, heading into the final days of the January window, Gallagher is once again being linked with a Selhurst Park return.

According to Sky Sports, Gallagher is attracting interest from a number of Premier League sides, with Crystal Palace one of those chasing his signature.

It comes as little surprise, not least because Patrick Vieira’s side were relentlessly linked with the England international throughout the summer window.

Reports suggested Crystal Palace lodged a late bid for Gallagher in the final days of the winter window, but their offer of £27 million wasn’t entertained by Chelsea.

Gallagher, who won Crystal Palace’s Player of the Season award last year, has featured regularly for the Blues this season, but suggestions he could leave Stamford Bridge refuse to go away.

What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Gallagher to Crystal Palace?

A player subject to much interest, Gallagher’s future remains uncertain heading into the final days of the window and Sheth has hinted Crystal Palace might make a move.

On the 22-year-old, Sheth told GMS in an interview: “The Conor Gallagher one is interesting because he’s constantly been linked with a move away from Chelsea.

“He was definitely linked in the summer and has been linked the whole of this month.

“The likes of Newcastle, the likes of Crystal Palace as well, who would want him back at Selhurst Park, are interested.

“But he’s been starting games for Chelsea under Graham Potter and I just wonder whether Potter would allow him to leave.

“Remember they have got a few injury problems in central midfield, not least, N’Golo Kante. I just think maybe they want to keep a number of their midfielders at the club just to cover any potential injury issues.”

What would Gallagher offer Crystal Palace?

The Selhurst Park faithful are all too aware of what Gallagher can provide the Eagles in the heart of their midfield.

During his 39 appearances on loan for the south London outfit last season, Gallagher notched up an impressive 13 goal contributions (Transfermarkt).

But, as Sheth alludes to, had Chelsea’s midfield not been plagued by as many injuries as it has been, perhaps a move for Gallagher might’ve been more attainable for Crystal Palace.

Instead, Gallagher – who pockets £50,000 per week at Stamford Bridge – has played in each of Chelsea’s six outings since the Premier League returned after the World Cup break and it looks like the midfielder is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge until the summer at least.

Respected journalist Simon Phillips recently told GMS that Gallagher was keen to stay in west London beyond the January deadline, indicating Crystal Palace may be forced to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.
