Daichi Kamada confirmed that he will be leaving Lazio this summer while explaining the reasons behind his decision and lashing out at President Claudio Lotito.

Lazio Journey Comes to An End

The 27-year-old joined the Italian capital side last summer, completing a free transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt, and signing a one-year contract at the time. The midfielder had the option to trigger an automatic renewal but allowed the clause to expire at the end of May.

Nevertheless, the Biancocelesti were still hoping to reach an agreement with the player over a new contract, but to no avail. Earlier today, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed Kamada is on the verge of completing a free transfer to Crystal Palace where he’ll reunite with his former Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner.

The player himself has now confirmed his Lazio exit, but without specifying his next destination in an interview with Football Zone (via LazioNews24). The Japan international insisted that he only wanted to extend his contract for another year while blaming Lotito’s attitude for the negotiation’s collapse.

It is 100% certain that I will leave Lazio. At the beginning, I intended to stay, but these things happen in Italy. Moreover, President Lotito is famous especially in Italy for being one of the most difficult to negotiate with. I only wanted a one-year contract and I didn’t ask for a pay raise because I was earning enough. But we were unable to reach an accord. I don’t know what my Agent told the club, but I only wanted a one-year contract.

Nevertheless, Kamada reveals his rapport with Lazio coach Igor Tudor remains intact despite his imminent exit.

I spoke to Tudor many times. He was helping me improve, he took me under his wing and reiterated his desire to keep me at the club. Even when I decided to leave, I stayed in contact with the coach. I don’t have a problem with him. I hope we can work together again in the future.
