Crystal Palace are one of a number of Premier League sides “sniffing around” Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga, transfer insider Dean Jones revealed to GIVEMESPORT.
Elanga has been mooted with a move away from Old Trafford this month, but Jones believes United are reluctant to let the Swedish international leave.
According to a report in the MailOnline, Elanga entered the final day of the January transfer window with his future still up in the air.
Elanga, who has been subject to much interest throughout the January window, could be allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan, should the right proposal come through.
What’s more, United have a hectic schedule ahead of them, with the club set to play eight matches between now and the end of February.
As such, the Old Trafford hierarchy, alongside United boss Erik ten Hag, have been weighing up the idea of allowing Elanga to leave the club this month.
But with just hours of the window left, it appears United are no closer to a decision, despite concrete interest from Premier League sides.
90min from earlier in the month revealed Elanga had been touted by the likes of Everton, Southampton and Leicester City.
However, there are now fresh suggestions that Palace could be eyeing up a late swoop for the Swedish international.
Speaking in an interview with GMS today, transfer insider Jones refused to rule out Palace making a last-ditch attempt to sign Elanga on loan.
On the 20-year-old, Jones said: “Palace are one of the many clubs that have been sniffing around Elanga today.
“United are so cautious about how they manage him, they know he is going to be special if they choose his pathway properly.
“Last check, Palace seemed unsure it was going to be possible but he could really help their season, and they also think they could aid Elanga’s progression.”

It’s less than 12 months since Elanga burst onto the United scene, most notably netting a crucial equaliser during the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw away to Atletico Madrid.
Fast forward one year and Elanga has been unable to sustain the impact he first had, despite featuring 20 times for United this season (Transfermarkt).
Regardless, Elanga still represents a solid option and would be a worthwhile signing for Patrick Vieira’s side.
According to FBref, Elanga sits in the top 20 per cent of forwards for tackles won each match, indicating he’d be a perfect fit for Vieira’s hard-working style of play.
