Crystal Palace set to name Adolf Hutter as head coach | OneFootball

Crystal Palace will name Adolf Hutter as head coach this summer, according to Kurier.

The Austrian will replace Roy Rodgson when he leaves after his interim tenure.

Adi Hutter was last in charge of Borussia Monchengladbach. He led them to a tenth-placed finish in the Bundesliga.

It was a disappointing campaign, leading the club to dismiss the manager after only one season in charge.

Hutter became popular in Germany after succeeding Niko Kovac at Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018.

He led Frankfurt to the semi-final of the Europa League in his first season. They finished seventh in the Bundesliga.

Readers of the German newspaper Bild voted him Coach of the Year and Frankfurt the Team of the Year.

The following season they finished ninth but bounced back in the 2020/21 season and finished fifth.

He surprisingly left for Gladbach when many people felt he could get a bigger job. Hutter has been out of a job since leaving Die Fohlen last summer.

The 53-year-old led RB Salzburg to the 2014/15 Austrian Bundesliga title and the Austrian Cup in his sole season at the club.

He went to the Swiss Super League to coach Young Boys and won the league there before his move to Germany.

Hutter will hope to galvanise a young and exciting Palace squad into what the owners expected of former coach Patrick Vieira.

Palace sacked the Frenchman after a poor 2023 saw them go on a 12-game winless run.

They were 12th in the Premier League after 28 games, just three points above the drop zone.

They appointed Hodgson to take charge of the club until the end of the season.

The 75-year-old has led the Eagles impressively, winning three out of three games since returning to the club.

The former England national team boss has helped stabilise Palace. They have defeated Leicester City, Leeds United and Southampton.

They welcome Everton to Selhurst Park this weekend with high confidence and momentum. They will fancy themselves to get a positive result against the Merseyside club.
