Crystal Palace are working on a deal worth in the region of £30million to sign Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal.

Palace have moved for the striker after his proposed switch to Nottingham Forest collapsed over the weekend.

Talks are at an advanced stage and Palace have agreed to pay £25m up front for the 25-year-old, with a potential £5m in add-ons.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, and Nketiah is set to undergo a medical and secure his move before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Palace are set for a busy final few days of the transfer window. They are braced for a fresh bid from Newcastle for new captain Marc Guehi, with the Magpies increasingly confident of securing a deal for the £70m-rated England centre-back.

Having sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £27m last week, Palace plan to sign two centre-backs if Guehi also departs. They are interested in Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, who played under Eagles boss Oliver Glasner when he managed the German club, and other options include Liverpool’s Joe Gomez and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah.

On top of Nketiah, Palace want to strengthen their forward line after selling Michael Olise and Jordan Ayew and suffering back-to-back defeats in their opening two games.

The Eagles are interested in Chelsea duo Raheem Sterling and Carney Chukwuemeka.

While Jean-Philippe Mateta is expected to stay, there is interest in Odsonne Edouard.

Palace chairman Steve Parish has told Newcastle to stump up “superstar money” if they want Guehi, whose future is expected to be resolved in the next 48 hours.

Losing club captain Guehi would be a blow to Glasner, who saw his side beaten 2-0 by West Ham on Saturday after losing 2-1 at Brentford on the opening weekend.

England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and French midfielder Naouirou Ahamada have both asked to leave Palace, Johnstone on a permanent deal and Ahamada on loan.
