Crystal Palace have reportedly made an official bid to sign Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster on a permanent deal.

According to Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett, Palace have offered an initial £19m with a further £6m in potential add-ons that could take the total package to £25m.

He also reports that the contract would include a buy-back clause for Liverpool worth £37m, if they decide that they want to bring Brewster back to Anfield in the future.

It remains to be seen, at this time, whether Liverpool are ready to accept this offer or reject it.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

If Liverpool feel that Brewster is not yet at a level where he can compete for a place in the starting XI, then it could be best to move him on. Divock Origi was named on the bench against Chelsea ahead of Brewster, potentially showing where Klopp views Brewster in the pecking order of his squad.

Brewster is 20 and regular game time could help aid his development because it could give him the experience he needs at the top level to hone his skills. Playing against Premier League opposition every week for Crystal Palace could be an excellent opportunity for him to prove himself, so it is understandable if Brewster wants to make the move.

He scored 11 goals in 21 games for Swansea on loan in the Championship last season, showing that he does have the potential to score goals on a consistent basis. If Brewster can continue that form in the Premier League for Crystal Palace, Liverpool could end up becoming interested in activating that buy-back clause in a few years time – depending on how their own frontline looks at the time. However, with Firmino and Origi ahead of him, a permanent exit from Anfield appears as though it could be on the cards for the English striker.
