Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is ‘only going to get better’ and Eagles chairman Steve Parish is being ‘astute’ by attempting to increase the release clause written into the winger’s Selhurst Park contract, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Olise’s current deal has more than four years to run, but Palace are still keen to reach an agreement over fresh terms ahead of the transfer window opening for business.

What’s the latest news involving Olise?

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Palace have headed to the negotiating table as they fear admirers will be open to meeting Olise’s £35million release clause.

It appears the Eagles have been boosted in their hopes of reaching an agreement as the report suggests the wide-man is keen to remain in south London and a contract, which will be extended by a further 12 months and include an increased buyout clause worth upwards of £50million, is close to being signed.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Lille and Bayern Munich are among the clubs to have been keeping tabs on Olise’s situation, forcing Palace to act.

The interest comes less than 12 months after the 20-year-old became manager Patrick Vieira’s first signing when he completed an £8million switch from Reading.

Olise’s Selhurst Park performances led to him winning his first France under-21s cap in March, so it is clear that he is catching the eye.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Olise?

O’Rourke believes Olise has a bright future ahead of him and can understand why Palace want to protect their asset.

The journalist feels Parish is being smart by holding talks with Olise and his representatives ahead of the summer transfer window.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think he’s only going to get better working under Patrick Vieira.

“Palace have been pretty astute in increasing his release clause to ensure that if anybody wants to sign him, they’re going to have to pay big bucks. It’s a good piece of business by the club.”

Why is Olise of interest to clubs ahead of the transfer window?

Olise had never tasted Premier League football before his move to Palace, but he has taken to the top flight like a duck to water and registered 12 goal contributions in 31 appearances.

That comes after finding the back of the net seven times and adding a further 14 assists for former employers Reading, where he showcased his potential.

His value has increased considerably over the past 12 months as well, with him now being rated at £25million by the CIES Football Observatory, so it is clear the Eagles have a huge talent on their hands.
