Crystal Palace were held to their fourth consecutive draw in the Premier League after Callum Wilson’s magnificent overhead kick cancelled out Christian Benteke’s opener at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles striker had put the home side ahead after 56 minutes following a Tyrick Mitchell cross, and the Belgium international remained at the centre of proceedings until the final whistle. The 30-year-old also struck the woodwork in both halves before spurning a fabulous opportunity to put Palace 2-1 up, firing into the side netting after James McArthur slipped him through on goal.

Things then went from bad to worse for the 6 foot 2 target man after he had a late goal ruled out by VAR for a foul against Marc Guehi. However, despite Benteke’s near misses, he continued to singlehandedly provide Palace’s threat as his fellow forwards struggled to make an impact on proceedings.

Was Edouard Palace's worst player?

Yes, definitely!

After scoring against Arsenal on Monday night, Odsonne Edouard once again lined up on the left-hand side of attack despite Wilfried Zaha returning to the matchday squad following a short illness.

However, the summer signing was unable to repeat his encouraging performance at the Emirates Stadium this time around, proving to be somethin of a liability for Patrick Vieira’s charges.

As per SofaScore, Edouard lost possession a whopping 22 times throughout the 90 minutes, leading to him receiving a match rating of just 6.1 out of 10, the lowest score awarded to any player on the pitch.

The Frenchman also lost 13 of his 20 duels against a physical Newcastle side who were happy to sit back and defend, and he ended the game with a passing accuracy of just 76% as his only shot ended up being blocked down, highlighting his ineffective showing.

Since arriving from Celtic, Edouard has showcased his top-class potential with eye-catching performances against Tottenham and Arsenal, but now he must produce his best on a regular basis to take the next step in his development. Today was not one he will care to remember.
