Crystal Palace have finally made an approach to sign Bristol City forward Antoine Semenyo, according to the Daily Mail.
However, they aren’t alone in their quest to sign the 23-year-old with AFC Bournemouth reportedly having two bids rejected for him earlier this month with Gary O’Neil keen to get a deal over the line for him.
The Sun has even claimed that the Cherries are willing to offer him a £50,000-per-week package to fend off competitors and secure a full agreement to bring him to the south coast.

However, their £10m offer wasn’t enough to satisfy officials at Ashton Gate and that has potentially given others a golden opportunity to push ahead of O’Neil’s side in this race, with Palace now making an approach to try and secure a deal.
The 23-year-old has 18 months left on his contract with the Robins and this month could potentially be Nigel Pearson’s side’s last opportunity to secure a sizeable fee for his services.
No side has made a breakthrough in negotiations at this stage, although Southampton may fancy their chances of securing a late-January move for him after reportedly entering the race for the forward who has recorded seven goals and two assists in 26 competitive appearances this term.
The Verdict:
Showcasing his ability to be both a goalscorer and a creator over the past 18 months, it’s no surprise that several top-tier sides want to try and get a deal over the line for the Ghana international.
Considering he’s only 23 and only likely to get better with more domestic and international experience under his belt, there’s every chance Palace will be able to sell him on for a decent fee in the future even if this move doesn’t work out for the best.
And because of this, a move for Semenyo would probably be a low-risk one that could carry high rewards for Patrick Vieira’s men with the Eagles already benefitting from the EFL market since the Arsenal legend’s arrival.
Signing Michael Olise who has been an excellent asset for them, they may also benefit from the likes of Malcolm Ebiowei and Luke Plange following their moves from Derby County.
Semenyo is someone who could come in and make an impact straight away like Olise – and that can only be a good thing for Palace who could definitely benefit from having more attacking firepower.
