Crystal Palace are ‘likely to enter the market’ to sign a new centre-back before the window closes, according to the BBC.

The Eagles signed Chadi Riad from Real Betis and loaned Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in the summer to strengthen their defence.

Riad has featured in only one league game since his arrival at Selhurst Park, as he is out due to a ligament injury.

Riad has been set to return to action in January and in his absence, Oliver Glasner kept faith in Chalobah, who featured regularly for them.

However, due to an injury crisis, Chelsea decided to cut short Chalobah’s loan spell and recalled him to Stamford Bridge.

However, Crystal Palace are now concerned that Riad might miss a longer period of time due to his injury and they are likely to enter the market to find a replacement.

Glasner prefers to play with three centre-backs, and with Riad’s injury, they will be left with Marc Guehi, Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards in the area.

Now it remains to be seen whether they already have a player in their mind who they can get quickly before the window closes.
