Shay Given blasted Crystal Palace after they succumbed to a late equaliser against Luton Town on Saturday.

The Eagles were the dominant side at Selhurst Park, creating five big chances from the 21 shots on goal, and took a deserved lead just 11 minutes after the game kicked off.

Oliver Glasner appeared to be heading towards his second win as manager since taking over from Roy Hodgson last month, but impact substitute Cauley Woodrow scored a stunning equaliser in the 96th minute to take home a valuable point.

Former Newcastle United and Manchester City goalkeeper Given was highly critical of Palace for the way managed the closing stages of the contest.

“What frustrates the life out of me, watching this, Crystal Palace are pushing in injury time, taking shots, why not take it in the corner?

“One nil, see the game out, three points,” the pundit told BBC Final Score.

“They’re in a relegation fight, they’ve conceded in the last touch of the game, they have thrown away two points.”

Crystal Palace have now conceded 10 goals after the 90th minute this season, while they also conceded late goals in regular time against Everton and Spurs.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnston denied it was a psychological problem for the team. “No of course not, its just the way football is,” he told BBC Match of the Day.

“We need to work on it. It was a cross and a flick in and another day it goes wide. It’s not a good one to add to that tally but its something we are working on to go in the right direction.”

The result leaves Palace 14th in the Premier League table, while Luton closed the gap Nottingham Forest to just three points as they bid stave off relegation.
