Crystal Palace keen to retain Napoli target Jean-Philippe Mateta | OneFootball

As reported by L’Équipe in May, Napoli are interested in Crystal Palace forward Jean-Philippe Mateta (26), who they perceive as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, heavily linked with a departure from the Serie A side this summer. However, amidst interest in their French forward, Crystal Palace are looking to retain Mateta, according to a report from Fabrizio Romano.

Mateta is coming off the best season of his professional career after scoring 16 goals and registering five assists in 35 Premier League appearances. His performances did not earn him a call-up from Didier Deschamps for France’s Euro 2024 campaign, however, it has done enough to catch the eyes of other clubs who are in the market for a striker, notably Napoli.

However, according to Romano, Crystal Palace have no plans to sell the former France U21 forward as they consider him crucial to their plans for next season. Mateta’s future therefore looks to be at Selhurst Park.
