Fabrizio Romano understands that Crystal Palace have joined the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign AS Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche (22).
The France youth international made a breakthrough into the first team last season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists in 31 appearances in all competitions. Les Monégasques’ academy product has garnered considerable interest with Crystal Palace the latest to join the race. The Premier League side are in the market for a replacement for Michael Olise, whose move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich was confirmed over the weekend.
However, any move this summer may prove difficult, not because of the calibre of competition for his signature, but due to Monaco’s transfer stance and also Akliouche’s own preference. “It is his decision and ours that the priority is to stay. We are in good conversations with him and his agent about a contract extension,” Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro told Get French Football News on Friday.
He added, “Having a season with AS Monaco, playing in the Champions League, playing with the level of quality that we have nowadays is also the right step for him. This situation is under control.” A move away from the Stade Louis II this summer therefore looks unlikely for Akliouche.
