Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure.

The central midfielder is a key target for manager Patrick Vieira this summer.

A fee of £18 million plus £4.3 million in add-ons is all but agreed.

The Athletic states that Palace are very confident they have signed the player.

Doucoure has a contract at Lens that runs until 2024 and had a very successful last season in Ligue 1.

The 22-year-old made 34 appearances, scoring a goal and providing four assists to his teammates.

His midfield partnership with Seko Fofana was a key reason for the team having a successful season.
