Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is angry with Sky Sports over claims of bidding for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

He asked Sky Sports to take down a report claiming they had made a bid for the 20-year-old forward which he said was a 'total fabrication from start to finish' as the Eagles had not made any bid, formal or informal, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Parish stated: "We have asked Sky to take this down as it is a total fabrication from start to finish.

"We have not made a bid formal or informal."

Sky Sports later put out a tweet 'correcting' their initial story and saying Palace were 'prepared to pay' a fee of £19m plus £6m in add ons but Parish has again issued a strong denial and rebuke.

He tweeted in the evening: "Since you won't leave it alone nor will I.

"How do you know what I'm 'prepared to pay!' Or indeed if I'm prepared to pay anything?

"I can assure you numbers have never been discussed with me so who tells you this stuff and for what reason?

"And why is it ok to just write it?"
