Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki was the subject of rumor all summer, but the youngster didn’t move. Moreover, Cherki could sign a new contract with Les Gones as the player’s current deal expires in 2025.
This month, The Athletic’s Peter Rutzler reported that Fulham had made a bid for the attacking midfielder. According to Rutzler, the Premier League club’s offer for the Frenchman was valued at an initial £12 million, with additional bonuses included.
Rutzler’s information also noted that Crystal Palace retains an interest but had yet to submit an offer. With the summer transfer deadline coming and going, it appears no official bid came from the Eagles for Cherki.
L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi revealed the latest on Cherki and his contract extension with Lyon. Furthermore, he notes that the player was supposed the be playing in the French capital.
“The current trend is to stay at Lyon and discuss extending the player’s contract,” Tanzi said (h/t Le10Sport). “It shouldn’t be a long-term extension if negotiations are successful, but it’s already a major turnaround considering Cherki was expected to sign with PSG.”
With a potential new contract extension, Cherki now looks to establish himself with Lyon and try his luck for a significant move either in the winter transfer window or next summer.
