Crystal Palace would be a destination of ‘interest’ for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has told GiveMeSport.
The 22-year-old has been attracting interest from several Premier League clubs throughout January after failing to hold down a regular starting berth at Stamford Bridge this season.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier today that Everton have made a £40 million offer plus £5 million in add-ons to Chelsea for Gallagher.
It’s claimed that the Blues will make a decision over the England international’s future imminently, and that the player himself will also have some tough choices to make over his immediate plans.
Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas then stated that Everton are just one of multiple clubs who are eager to secure Gallagher’s services, with Newcastle United and Palace also named among his potential suitors.
And Thomas has since disclosed that the box-to-box dynamo is ‘not interested’ in a move to Goodison Park and that there are ‘top clubs’ currently looking at him.
Palace are set to sign fellow central midfielder Naouirou Ahamada from Stuttgart in a €12 million (£10.5 million) deal, and the arrival of Gallagher would further bolster their engine room options.
Crook has revealed that he believes Gallagher would be open to making a return to Selhurst Park after enjoying a productive loan spell there throughout 2021/22.
In an interview with GMS, he said: “Yeah, and I think he would have an interest in going back there, from what I’m told.
“Obviously, he enjoyed it last season, he would be given the opportunity to stay in London, so yeah. And Chelsea might prefer to do that than to send him to Newcastle.”
Palace may have an advantage in their pursuit of Gallagher given the success he previously enjoyed at the club, but there will surely be major doubts over their ability to match Everton’s bid.

Gallagher has struggled to replicate that form for Chelsea in the current campaign, though, racking up just two goal contributions in 25 outings across all competitions.
It remains to be seen if a return to Palace is a realistic option for Gallagher, but the club’s supporters will surely be hoping Patrick Vieira and co. can get this deal over the line.
