Ricardo Peláez has not yet officially assumed the role of Chivas sporting director but he reportedly already has his first reinforcement ready for the 2020 Clausura campaign.
According to Mediotiempo, Cruz Azul and Mexico international winger Elías Hernández has asked to leave the club to possibly reunite with Peláez at Chivas.
Chivas have been targeting the 31-year-old attacker for several years now and January could be the right time for him to finally make the switch.
At the international stage, Hernández has earned 25 caps and contributed four goals and six assists. His last appearance for El Tri was back in September 2018 in a 1-0 friendly defeat against the United States.
Hernández starred during the 2017 Gold Cup, tallying a goal and three assists as he featured in all five of Mexico’s matches.
Though Hernández sizzled for Cruz Azul in his first season for the club, the 2018 Apertura, he has since cooled off and only has a goal and an assist to his name this season.
