This Monday, December 16, Cruz Azul announced Sebastian Jurado as their latest signing heading into the 2020 Clausura season. The Mexico City club has not officially released a press release regarding the signing just yet, but did post a video that features Jurado’s goalkeeper gloves and arms.

The Veracruz native has already made appearances for the U-22 Mexico national team and has been called up by the senior national team. Jurado was arguably the lone bright spot on Veracruz and is one of the more promising young players in the Liga MX.

The 22-year-old will not be a consistent starter this season as veteran keeper Jesus Corona is set to be the starter for Cruz Azul. However, Cruz Azul Manager Robert Siboldi is familiar with Jurado from his time at Veracruz and there will be competition for the starting role.

Corona is also set to not have much time left with Cruz Azul as the veteran will be sharing his wisdom with the young shot-stopper. Los Cementeros really obtained a bargain with Jurado as the negotiation was directly with the player and his agent as no club transfer fee was necessary.
