Croatia through to finals

Scorers: Baumgartner 9′; Modrić 6′, Livaja 69′, Lovren 71′.

Croatia saw off a tough Austria side to qualify for the Nations League finals in June.

They moved ahead after just six minutes when Luka Modrić strode into the box and lashed the ball in at the near post after being played in by Nikola Vlašić.

But the hosts moved level almost immediately when Marcel Sabitzer’s cross was headed home by Christoph Baumgartner.

It looked as if it wasn’t going to be Croatia’s night until Marko Livaja rose at the back post to head home Ivan Perišić’s chipped cross.

Dejan Lovren put the result beyond all doubt minutes later with fierce diving header after being picked out by Lovro Majer’s cross to the back post.

Explosive Danes stun subdued France

Scorers: Dolberg 33′, Skov Olsen 39′.

A stunning first-half performance was enough for Denmark to see off France in Copenhagen.

The Danes were in front midway through the first half when Kasper Dolberg stretched to reach Mikkel Damsgaard’s low cross to turn it home past Alphonse Areola.

Andreas Skov Olsen then dispatched a well-worked corner with a stunning volley from the edge of the box to see off the World Champions.

League A: Group 4

Van Dijk books Dutch place in final four

Scorers: Van Dijk 74′.

Netherlands sealed their place in the Nations League finals after beating Belgium.

Roberto Martinez’s side went into the game knowing they could only overtake the Dutch and qualify by winning the game by three clear goals.

But Virgil van Dijk was on hand to get on to the end of Cody Gakpo’s corner deep into the second half to head home the winner and extend Netherlands’ unbeaten run since Louis van Gaal’s return as head coach to 15 games.

Wales relegated after home defeat

Scorers: Świderski 58′.

Wales have been relegated to League B after falling to defeat to Poland in Cardiff.

Robert Lewandowski’s delicate flick was played into the path of the on-rushing Karol Świderski who squeezed the ball in at the near post to settle the game.

Robert Page’s men picked up just one point from their six Nations League games and drop down a tier with Poland staying up.
