Marcus Rashford scored his 100th goal for Manchester United on Sunday as the Red Devils beat West Ham 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Rashford powered home a header from Christian Eriksen’s cross in the first half to reach a century of strikes for his boyhood club.

What a header and what a moment.

It’s been quite a journey for Rashford in the six-and-a-half years since he burst onto the scenes with two goals on his Manchester United debut against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

While it hasn’t necessarily been a straight road for Rashford, scoring 100 goals for one of the biggest clubs in world football is an incredible achievement.

And he celebrated it in the exact same way Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his 100th goal for Manchester United.

After finding the back of the net, Rashford was mobbed by his teammates before holding up one finger. He then makes a zero with his other hand and moves it along – signifying 100.

Where have we seen that before?

Well, that’s exactly what Ronaldo did after scoring his 100th United goal back in 2008.

Rashford’s header was actually compared to Ronaldo, with

Ronaldo is an inspiration for Rashford

Rashford has previously spoken out about how Ronaldo has inspired him throughout his career.

“The thing that is a massive eye-opener for me now is I remember when he first came his talent was arguably one of the biggest talents that we’ve seen at United for a long time,” he told the club’s official website.

“To have him and Wayne [Rooney] in the same team was amazing when you look back. But the way he’s sustained his career and even improved year on year is just amazing.

“People don’t do that at his age, people are usually heading towards the end of their career and their level starts going down a little bit, but he’s just gone up and up and up.

“For me there is no bigger inspiration in football.”
