Portugal national team star Cristiano Ronaldo wants to carry on playing for the team, even if Fernando Santos remains in charge of the side.
Portuguese paper Correio da Manha have reported about the situation and future of Ronaldo today, stating that despite the resounding disappointing of the World Cup knockout, he will not give up playing for the national team.
Ronaldo knows that he has not been at his best in recent months and the lack of a pre-season at Manchester United affected his performance. But he is willing to carry on playing till the Euros in 2024 and wants to keep giving his all for the Portugal national team.
Ronaldo has featured in 196 matches for the national team and has scored 118 goals but his performances in the World Cup were disappointed, as he scored only one goal and that came from the penalty spot. Reports had stated that on learning about his absence in the World Cup Round of 16 game against Switzerland, Ronaldo had threatened to leave the Portugal camp in Qatar.
