Cristiano Ronaldo will not be attending the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday, having won the award five times in the past.

That is according to SIC reporter Pedro Sepulveda, who claim Cristiano Ronaldo will not be present at the Theatre du Charelet, where Lionel Messi is expected to win his seventh Ballon d’Or award.

Ronaldo is not expected to be listed in the top three players for the past year, for what feels like the first time ever, despite finishing as the top goalscorer in Serie A and at Euro 2020. He has continued his goalscoring after transferring from Juventus to Manchester United in the summer.

The spotlight for those positions is on Karim Benzema, Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah.

Many have argued that Lewandowski is most deserving of the Ballon d’Or this year, but it looks like Messi will claim the award again.

Ronaldo is right to snub the ceremony because it’s a busy time for United.

A pointless trip to Paris on Monday won’t fit into his schedule.
