Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave Portugal camp before Switzerland game

Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave the Portugal training on learning that he will not be starting the team’s Round of 16 game against Switzerland.

Record Portugal have stated that when Ronaldo learned of the fact that he will not start against Switzerland, he threatened to leave the training camp, but he quickly gave up on the idea after realising the importance of the occassion, what it meant to the team and the negative consequences him leaving could have had.

In a meeting with Ronaldo, Fernando Santos had justified Ronaldo’s dropping with tactical arguments. On Wednesday though, Ronaldo did not take part in training with the team and he was content with individual training indoors, having not picked up any injury.
