Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has asked the club to sell him this summer should a ‘satisfactory offer’ arrive, per The Times.

According to the report, Ronaldo’s willingness to leave is highly motivated by the desire to play in next season’s Champions League off the back of participating in 19 consecutive editions of Europe’s premier club competition.

Ronaldo also wants to compete for major trophies and the current feeling is that a move away from Old Trafford needs to be made for that to happen despite only just returning to The Red Devils last summer when he left Juventus after three seasons with the Serie A giants.

As expected, the Portuguese picked up where he left off during his first spell in English football, bagging a brace on his second debut against Newcastle and going to score an impressive 24 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions.

However, the ex-Real Madrid man could only guide a largely disappointing United side to a sixth-place finish in the just-concluded Premier League campaign, meaning that he is on course to play in the Europa League for the first time in his illustrious career.

Per The Athletic, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes met with Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly last month and a possible move for the 37-year-old to Stamford Bridge was reportedly discussed.

Napoli are also thought to be interested in signing Ronaldo but that looks to be a tad too ambitious for the Serie A outfit due to the finances that would be involved in landing the five-time Balon d’Or winner, who currently earns a whopping £510,000 per week.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have been informed of Ronaldo’s current situation and it remains to be seen whether the Bundesliga giants will turn their attention to him should Robert Lewandowski leave the Allianz Arena for Barcelona.
