Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly rejected the chance to join MLS side Inter Miami.

The Major League Soccer franchise, which is owned by David Beckham, has been linked with some of the biggest stars in the game, especially as they near their retirement. Now it sounds like they want to add Ronaldo to their billing.

Beckham reached into his contact book of former team-mates at United to hire a new manager, with Phil Neville currently in charge, and it sounds like he is turned to the Premier League giants to improve his side.

According to the Daily Star, Inter Miami have made an approach to sign Ronaldo this summer and it was quickly turned down.

Ronaldo has been recently linked with a move to Chelsea but, with one year left on his contract, sources close to the club are adamant that he will stay at Old Trafford this summer.

Next summer he will have plenty of offers from the United States.

Beckham himself enjoyed playing football in the US before hanging up his boots.

Wayne Rooney is another.

SN’s verdict

While we believe Jorge Mendes has been stirring the pot this summer, the Portuguese star is still under contract and United have are prepared to lose him this summer.

Who will score the goals next season if he leaves? It’s quite clear that the club will look to address this next summer but not now.

I can’t see United letting him leave.
