Cristiano Ronaldo has privately admitted to friends that he ‘regrets’ leaving Real Madrid for Juventus.
That’s according to a story from ABC which claims that the Portugal international, although settled in Turin, believes he would have won the last two editions of the Ballon d’Or had he stayed at Santiago Bernabéu.
Ronaldo joined the Serie A champions in summer 2018 and has since gone on to score 36 goals in 60 appearances for the Bianconeri.
The 34-year-old hasn’t been quite at his best in Italy, being used only for the most important games by Maurizio Sarri and not finding the net quite as regularly as he did in Spain.
And according to ABC the five-time Champions League winner harbours regret about leaving Los Blancos, who have endured their own struggles since seeing Ronaldo depart.
The former Manchester United man apparently believes that he would have fired Madrid to trophies last season, and would have beaten Luka Modrić to the 2018 Ballon d’Or, as well Lionel Messi to this year’s trophy as well.
