Juventus kicked off the new year with a comfortable victory over Udinese and Sunday night.

Two goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, a Federico Chiesa strike and a late Paulo Dybala clincher gave Andrea Pirlo’s side three points which move them up to 5th in Serie A with a game in hand over leaders AC Milan.

Udinese thought they’d taken the lead in the 11th minute when Kevin Lasagna picked out Rodrigo De Paul in the middle, but the goal was ruled out by VAR for a handball in the build-up.

Juventus did take the lead 20 minutes later when Aaron Ramsey dispossessed De Paul and played in Ronaldo to smash home his 757th goal for club and country.

Ramsey had a chance to make it 2-0 five minutes before half-time, but his effort was saved well by Udinese goalkeeper Juan Musso.

Four minutes into the second half, Juve did go 2-0 up. Ronaldo played in Chiesa with a stunning through ball and the winger finished well past Musso.

Then it was Juve’s turn to have a goal chalked off by VAR for handball, this time when Ramsey handled a rebound off the goalkeeper before slotting in.

Jens Stryger Larsen then hit the crossbar with a header for Udinese, before Ronaldo slotted coolly for the Bianconeri’s third goal having been played in by Rodrigo Bentancur.

Marvin Zeegelaar then rattled the crossbar again for the away side, before he did grab a consolation goal in injury time.

But the scoring wasn’t done there, as Dybala got in on the act to complete Juve’s rout right at the death.
