Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in the Manchester United squad for their final pre-season friendly of the summer having finally returned to training.

The Red Devils host La Liga side Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon as they complete a pre-season schedule that has seen them travel to Thailand, Australia and Norway.

While they have only suffered one defeat so far - coming against Atletico Madrid in their most recent match in Oslo - United have been without Ronaldo for the duration as he was granted extended time off for family reasons.

However, 90min understands the Portuguese superstar is intent on leaving Man Utd this summer and has been pushing for an exit in the belief that the club will not be able to compete for major silverware - and as a result he will not be in the running to claim more personal accolades.

United want him to stay, though, and the 37-year-old confirmed his return to training following his extended leave of absence on Saturday.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Atleti, Man Utd head coach Erik ten Hag confirmed Ronaldo would at least be in the matchday squad to face Rayo on Sunday.

"Tomorrow he will be in the squad. We’ll see how long he can play," the Dutchman said, before confirming that he will field a rotated side.

“The players who played today from the start, they will not come on tomorrow," he continued. "So tomorrow we will have a different starting XI. But there are players who came on who can start tomorrow.”
