Harry Maguire is having a poor season.

The Manchester United defender was so good for England in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2020 final last summer.

However, he has been unable to take that form into the 2021/22 campaign.

Maguire has come under-fire numerous times this season after a string of poor displays.

It’s fair to say he has not performed to the standard expected of a United captain.

But, despite being the subject of much criticism, Maguire has retained the captaincy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick have both resisted the temptation to strip Maguire of the armband and hand it to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is, of course, one of the greatest players ever.

He leads by example and thrives off the pressure that comes with being a captain. He has been Portugal’s captain since 2008 and guided them to glory at Euro 2016.

The Bayern Munich star was streaming FIFA 22 on Twitch when he got Maguire in a pack.

He then said: “Can you guys imagine. CAN YOU GUYS IMAGINE…”

Davies turns down his music and continues: “You are Ronaldo… One of the greatest players ever. And what’s his name is your captain? Harry Maguire is your captain?

“And you refer to him as ‘yes cap’. I don’t know what he says to him… Bro. I’m not dissing Harry Maguire but Ronaldo… Ronaldo should get the armband man.”

There will be a change of manager this summer with Eric ten Hag widely expected to replace Ralf Ragnick.

One of the biggest decisions he will have to make in his early tenure will be what to do with the captaincy.

Time will tell whether he decides to strip Maguire of the armband and pass it to Ronaldo.
