The 38-year-old was questioned on a plethora of topics but admitted his controversial – and dramatic – exit from Manchester United was a blip in his career.

“Manchester United? When we are at the top of the mountain, we often don’t see what’s below,” he said.

“I went through a bad phase of my career, I have no problems admitting that. But life moves on. I understood who are real friends in that difficult moment.

“Probably for the first time [in my career]. It was part of my growth. Now I am more prepared and this learning was important, I feel as though I’m a better man.”

Ronaldo eventually signed for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League but believes that the drop in quality might not be as big as some anticipated.

“Saudi League is not like the Premier League but I am amazed at the positivity there,” he continued.

“If they continue with the plan they want, it will be the fifth or sixth most competitive league in the world in the coming years.”

Additionally, the Portuguese talisman will become the player with the most international caps in history the next time he plays for the Seleção and he insisted he’s not done yet.

“Records are always positive things, they are my motivation, being the player with the most caps of all time would make me proud. I would like to get more in the next matches, not just tomorrow,” he added.

“In our lives, we must balance everything, think and think. Then we come to the conclusion, no matter how hard we go through, we can’t throw in the towel.”
