Remember the name Cristian Riveros?
The Paraguayan midfielder lasted just one season at Sunderland and made only 12 Premier League appearances in 2010/11.
He left the following summer to join Kayserispor on loan and ultimately made that move official.
But despite that brief time on Wearside, he has surprisingly revealed that he still holds very happy memories of that period of his career.
“Playing in the Premier League with Sunderland was a dream,” Riveros told Paraguayan outlet Cronica.
“I always say that I was blessed by that and thanks to football, I was able to make friends and travel through countries.
“I looked up to ‘Toro’ Acuña and Steven Gerrard, they were the best for me.
“I played against Gerrard in the 2006 World Cup and in the Premier League and I still have the shirt we exchanged in England.
“These are memories that I have and will cherish forever.”
At the age of 36, Riveros is still playing to this day and is now back in his homeland with Club Libertad.
