The Columbus Crew have officially signed Tristan Brown, a promising midfielder from their academy, to a Homegrown Player contract through the 2028 season, with options for 2029 and 2030. At just 17 years old, Brown is the second-youngest player to sign such a contract with the Crew, highlighting the club's commitment to nurturing young talent
Brown has already made a couple of appearances for the first team, debuting in a 0-0 draw against NYCFC and later contributing in a 1-1 draw with CF Montreal. Despite his limited exposure, fans have seen glimpses of his potential, and his consistent performances in the MLS NEXT Pro league have not gone unnoticed. With two assists in seven matches and a goal in the U.S. Open Cup, Brown has shown he can step up when needed.
General Manager Issa Tall expressed his pride in Brown's development, stating, "Tristan’s signing is a proud moment for our entire Club. It’s a reflection of his consistent effort since joining our Academy, as well as our Academy staff’s dedication to developing players throughout our pathway". Brown himself is thrilled about the opportunity, calling it "the fulfillment of a lifelong dream".
As the Crew prepare for the challenges ahead, having a young, talented player like Tristan Brown ready to contribute will be invaluable. His journey from the academy to the first team is a testament to the club's robust development system and its bright future.
