Craig Pawson has been given refereeing duties as Manchester City host Chelsea this Saturday (12:30 KO). The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport.
The last time the 42-year-old refereed Pep Guardiola's side was when City welcomed Liverpool to the Etihad for a 1-1 draw last season in which he awarded a rather controversial penalty for the hosts after Trent Alexander-Arnold blocked an incoming cross with this arm. Three cards were dished out that game and yet despite refereeing the blues 19 times, Pawson has never given out a red.
Other memorable games, for the right or wrong reasons, are City's trip to Huddersfield in November 2017 when Raheem Sterling scored a late winner in a 2-1 victory and when Wolves visited City in October 2019 and beat the Premier League champions 2-0 with Adama Traore bagging a brace.
