Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon picked up an injury during England’s 2-0 win over Albania.

The Magpies hero has left the England camp and has returned to Newcastle for further treatment. The 24-year-old came on as a substitute and picked up a hip problem as he limped off the tunnel.

The Newcastle forward was involved in a challenge on the left touchline that left him wincing in pain as he clutched his hip.

Gordon tried to carry on but broke down before the final whistle. He fell on the floor and was treated by England’s medical staff.

Craig Hope of the Daily Mail has shared the latest update on Gordon’s injury, which should excite the Newcastle fan base.

Anthony Gordon’s latest injury update

England’s new boss, Thomas Tuchel, said that Gordon’s injury is a bit worrying.

He said: “He looks injured. First of all I thought it’s his stomach, but it’s his hip and it does not look good. It’s a bit worrying, yeah.”

Hope shared that Gordon has already undergone a scan, and the initial results aren’t as bad as feared.

He wrote on X: “Anthony Gordon has returned to Newcastle from England but I understand the hip injury isn’t as serious as first feared. He had a scan yesterday and the news wasn’t too bad.”

While he will undergo further tests at the club, he is likely to be able to shake off the injury after a few days’ rest.

Gordon will get extended recovery time

Gordon won’t be returning to action anytime soon due to suspension. He is serving a three-match suspension for his sending-off in the FA Cup tie against Brighton.

The former Everton attacker missed the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley. He will also miss Newcastle’s next game against Brentford on Wednesday, April 2, the final game of his three-match ban.

Thus, he should be able to return for Newcastle’s trip to Leicester on Monday, April 7. This means Gordon will get a lot of time to recover fully unless his injury is very serious.
