Anderlecht are not the only side who have an eye on Sint Truiden’s star forward Adriano Bertaccini. According to HLN, Championship side Coventry City are also interested in signing the Belgian forward. At the moment, neither are close to agreeing a deal with both Bertaccini and his club. As the paper also reports, going abroad doesn’t necessarily attract the interest of the striker, who has already spent a period outside of Belgium in Austria.
Strikers from the Pro League have not faired well in English football in recent years, with Paul Onuachu’s move to Southampton being a prime example. However, Bertaccini is a different profile of striker, and his willingness to get in behind and high work rate would certainly endear him to fans of Coventry City should they sign him.
Last season, Bertaccini led an otherwise disappointing Sint Truiden side with 21 goals for the season. The strikers prowess in front of goal was bound to attract suitors and the club themselves have been gearing up for him to depart this summer. That Bertaccini didn’t start at the weekend is a tell tell sign, although he did come off the bench to grab a goal and an assist as Sint Truiden opened the season with a 3-1 win over Gent.
