Pundit Ally McCoist believes Coventry City could be vulnerable to losing the likes of Ben Sheaf, Callum O'Hare and Haji Wright this summer.

The trio impressed for Coventry in their remarkable FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday, in which the Sky Blues came from 3-0 down to take the tie to extra time.

Goals from Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire gave United a two-goal lead before halftime, and Bruno Fernandes looked to have sealed the game for the Red Devils when he added a third in the second half.

However, Coventry then produced an incredible comeback, with Ellis Simms and O'Hare reducing the deficit before Haji Wright's 95th-minute penalty levelled the scores.

The Sky Blues almost won the game in the last minute of extra time, but Victor Torp's goal was ruled out as Wright was adjudged to have been offside in the build-up, and United went on to win on penalties.

Coventry will now turn their attention back to the league, but a run of three defeats in four games means their play-off hopes are slim.

The Sky Blues currently sit eighth in the Championship table, but they are nine points behind sixth-placed Norwich City, and even maximum points from their remaining four games may not be enough to reach the top six due to goal difference.

McCoist: Sheaf, O'Hare and Wright will attract Premier League interest

McCoist believes that Sheaf, O'Hare and Wright should be on the radar of Premier League clubs, but he says Coventry must not sell their best players if they are to mount a promotion push next season.

"I think they should absolutely be snapped up by Premier League clubs," McCoist said.

"I’ve seen them a few times but I’d also fire Haji Wright into the mix as well, he’s an extremely talented player.

"I think there are four or five players in that team that would certainly interest teams at the lower end of the Premier League – but if you’re Coventry, it’s the last thing you want to happen!

"I think their FA Cup success has probably cost them a place in the play-offs this year and it’ll be interesting to hear Mark Robins’ thoughts on it. "They had a dip in performance following their game against Wolves which was unexpected so from their point of view, next season they’ll want to have a proper go at promotion and won’t want to get rid of their best players. "But, as we know, the financial situation will dictate whether they have to sell players or not.

"If they do want to reach the top flight, though, you don’t want to sell those guys."

Coventry City could be a victim of their own success this summer

It was an unforgettable afternoon for Coventry supporters on Sunday, but their FA Cup run may have helped to put some of their players in the shop window.

Sheaf has been excellent for the Sky Blues this season, and after Luton Town were said to have been keen in January, it would be no surprise to see him attract further interest this summer.

O'Hare has scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 33 appearances since returning from a serious knee injury in October, and his contract at the CBS Arena expires at the end of the season.

According to Coventry Live, O'Hare has rejected a contract offer from Coventry, and amid links with Everton, Fulham, Southampton, Leicester City, Burnley, Celtic, Rangers and La Liga clubs, his departure looks inevitable.

since his club record £7.7 million move from Antalyaspor in August, and as McCoist says, he could also have suitors this summer.

The Sky Blues made a slow start to this season after losing star duo Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer in the summer, and that has proven to be costly to their promotion hopes, so they must ensure they retain their key players to avoid similar disruption this time around.
