Thibaut Courtois won the Zamora Trophy at the 2019-20 Marca Awards. The Real Madrid player received the award thanks to being the goalkeeper who conceded the least number of goals in the league last season. The goalkeeper, one of the keys players for Real Madrid on the road to the title, conceded 20 goals in the 34 matches he played in the championship, letting in on average just 0.59 goals per game.

Upon collecting the trophy, the goalkeeper explained: "Every title is special. This one is even more special, as it's the first Zamora with Real Madrid. Besides, it was after winning the league, which is the objective. Individual trophies are nice, but collective ones are always more important. This award is a thank you to the hard work by the whole team. In the end I believe that we play in a position where a small mistake is costly. If you make several saves and help your team to win it's a very good feeling. For a goalkeeper it's the best thing you can say, that you’ve helped the team to win a game".
