The 23-year-old full-back left the Women’s Super League club at the end of her contract.

She spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Foxes, making 41 appearances in total.

This won’t be Nevin’s first time in Sweden after she previously played for Hammarby IF, where she was loaned to Leicester in January 2023, before the move turned permanent that summer.

Why has Courtney Nevin left Leicester for Malmo?

Courtney Nevin has revealed that she has joined Malmo as she feels the Damallsvenskan league will help her continue to develop as a player.

In her first interview with the club, she said: “I’m very happy to be here. It seems like a fantastic club.

“I was really happy when they showed interest and wanted me. I already love this stadium and the sky blue colour, it looks so nice.

“I’ve gotten to feel the pitch a little and it feels really nice. I’m really looking forward to playing here.

“Damallsvenskan is truly a top league that develops many good players. For me, it’s about continuing to develop as a player and getting as much out of it as possible. Sweden is a fantastic country for that, with a strong league.”

She joins a Malmo side who are 12 games into their season and sit third in the table. UK betting websites have Malmo priced at 4/1 to win the Damallsvenskan league.

Is Fridolina Rolfo joining Malmo?

One player who could be joining Courtney Nevin at Malmo is Swedish international Fridolina Rolfo.

Rolfo mutually agreed to terminate her contract early with Barcelona earlier this summer. The same move was done with Ellie Roebuck who has signed for Aston Villa.

However, Rolfo, who played for Sweden at Euro 2025, is still a free agent.

Last month, there were reports that Malmo hade made a ‘monster offer’ to sign Rolfo.

It added that they were prepared to make Rolfo the highest-paid player in Swedish football history.

Rolfo last played in Sweden for Linkoping in 2016, before she joined German giants Bayern Munich.

However, with a player of Rolfo’s quality available on a free transfer, it would not be a surprise to see other clubs across world football make an approach for the 31-year-old.

If she does join Malmo, she will join the likes of Nevin and goalkeeper Zecira Musovic, who recently joined the club from Chelsea.
