Olympique Lyonnais will host Ligue 2 BKT side Valenciennes for a spot in the Coupe de France final on Tuesday evening at the Groupama Stadium

It will be the fourth time in the last five editions of the Coupe de France that Olympique Lyonnais will feature in the semi-finals, as they hope to progress against tournament underdogs Valenciennes at the Groupama Stadium on Tuesday night.

Pierre Sage can add a Coupe de France final and potential European football to a growing list of achievements with Les Gones this season after steering them clear of relegation fears in Ligue 1 this season. They have done so as one of Ligue 1's most in-form sides this season.

OL knocked out Strasbourg on penalties in the quarter-finals after the match finished as a 0-0 draw, with goalkeeper Lucas Perri vital during the spot-kick session (4-3). Meanwhile, tonight's opponents Valenciennes also needed a penalty shootout to progress against third tier side FC Rouen (4-2).

Alexandre Laccazette: "We've come a long way"

Lyon have gone from worrying about relegation in the winter, to being on the precipice of a Coupe de France final in April. "A lot of people buried us in December," said captain Alexandre Lacazette at the pre-match press conference. "But we did it and we deserve to be where we are today. We're delighted to be here, but it's not over yet. We want to reach the final to confirm everything we've achieved this season, because we've come a long way."

Anthony Knockeart: "We need play the match of our lives"

The former Brighton and Leicester City winger is now plying his trade with Valenciennes in Ligue 2 BKT, and despite a torrid season in the league, could also be on the edge of creating history with the Northern club. "If anyone didn’t want to play a match like this, they should quit football, change sports! In terms of desire, we will be at 100%," said the Frenchman.
