Councillor Carlo Tancredi On Inter & AC Mian’s New Stadium: “Today There Is An Idea, Not A Project”
A city planning councillor from Milan has suggested that developments over the new San Siro stadium are not very advanced right now, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, city planning councillor Carlo Tancredi stressed that the plans represent more of an idea than a full project that is ready to be undertaken.
“If and when there is a decision that is not there at the moment, we expect a very high-level project. Today there is an idea, not a project.”
Carlo Tancredi went on to say that he is focused on the regeneration of the whole area and the positives that not only the football ground, but the surrounding commercial complex that will come with it can bring.
“I’m interested in an overall vision and the redevelopment of an area where there are many different realities.”
The mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala, did confirm that he will be meeting with the companies involved in the new stadium very soon to try and get the development moving.
The government would like the stadium to be operational for the Winter Olympics that will be held in Milan-Cortina in 2026.
