Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho responds to criticism from Man United star Paul Pogba

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has hit back at Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba after the Frenchman was critical of the former’s man-management style.

Mourinho, before he took over at Tottenham in 2019, had a two-and-a-half-year stint as the manager of Manchester United. Having signed in 2016, the Portuguese was the one who brought Pogba back to Old Trafford in his first summer in charge. The pair enjoyed a great first season at the club, winning the Europa League and the Carabao Cup.

However, things fell apart from the upcoming campaign onwards, with the player and the manager falling out with each other, which eventually played a role in Manchester United sacking Mourinho in December 2018.

Pogba, in a recent interview with Sky Sports, opened up on what went wrong between him and Jose, while stating that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a better man-manager than the Portuguese.

“What I have now with Ole is different, he wouldn’t go against the players. Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole. “Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don’t know. So, yeah.”

Responding to the barbs made by Pogba, Mourinho, after Tottenham’s 2-2 draw against Everton, insisted that he couldn’t care less about what the Frenchman said.

“I would like to say that I couldn’t care less with what he says. I am not interested at all.”

Mourinho has had a history of falling out with players at every club he has managed. At Manchester United it was Pogba and Luke Shaw, both of whom have gone on to become key players since his departure.

Jose has had issues with a few players at Tottenham as well, with Danny Rose being completely frozen out while Dele Alli has also fallen out of favour.
