Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a move for a Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia, but it remains to be seen how serious their interest is.
Tyrell Malacia could leave Manchester United on loan in the winter transfer window as he looks for regular playing time following his lengthy injury spell. Borussia Dortmund are one of the clubs being linked with the Dutch left-back, with reports claiming that the Black and Yellows could look to sign him on a loan deal in January.
However, BILD have since rubbished the claims and are reporting that Borussia Dortmund are unlikely to sign Malacia. This is due to multiple factors, including the upturn in form of Ramy Bensebaini, who has made the left-back spot his own this season with commanding performances in defence and attack.
Those in charge at Borussia Dortmund also do not want to impede the development of young left-back Almugera Kabar, who is rated very highly at the club. Also a factor is Malacia's susceptibility to injuries, and whether he would actually get more playing time at BVB.
Malacia has been limited to just two appearances so far this season, although he did feature heavily during his debut season with Manchester United. But a knee injury suffered in 2023 prevented him from playing for more than a year.
Left-back has long been described as an area that needs strengthening at Borussia Dortmund. And those in charge also acted on it by signing Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea last January. But with Ramy Bensebaini in excellent form at the moment and Julian Ryerson also more than capable of playing there, the need for bolstering the squad in that position has decreased.
