Following a 1-0 defeat to Feyenoord in the Netherlands, AC Milan had a task to complete at San Siro, and as they have often recently, they fell below the standard required.

There have been many things said after Milan’s exit in the Champions League, and it will likely continue for a while yet. However, this is the unfortunate consequence of falling short of expectations.

Whilst a top-four place is a possibility, the reminder of the Rossoneri’s inconsistent performances will be a worry for many, and many of the same problems have been brought back to the frontline, again, another unfortunate consequence.

There is definitely time to rectify things, but it will take a lot for the faith to be restored in the club, not just the players who took to the field.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Billy Costacurta offered his opinion on the proceedings of the evening, and his comments are available via Milan Press.

“I think the choice of Conceiçao’s starting line-up was good. When there are two expulsions in the three decisive matches it means that the individuals you have make some heavy mistakes. In the last three games, there have been three glaring mistakes: Musah in Zagreb against Dinamo, Maignan in the first leg in the Rotterdam match and Theo Hernandez tonight. I also didn’t understand the changes in the final, Sergio was a bit desperate”
