AC Milan take on Lecce at San Siro tonight hoping to build on the derby win against Inter, and it could be argued that there is even more pressure on this game despite the different level of opponent.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) write this morning that Milan cannot fall guilty of underestimating an opponent and a match like the one against Lecce, which on paper should be easier than the derby, but we know that very often the pitch does not live up to the predictions.

It would be a shame for the Rossoneri if tonight were to be one of those cases, also because doing so would make Milan’s victory against Inter useless in the scheme of things, as it would open Fonseca and the team up to new criticisms and accusations of being in crisis.

Quoting the words said in the press conference by the Portuguese coach, CorSport’s section is titled ‘Milan, win or it’s all useless’. From now on, around Milanello there should be only one watchword: consistency.

The derby cannot be an isolated case but rather should be used as fuel to allow this team to begin climbing the table. The Rossoneri can go temporarily top with a win tonight, albeit before others play, and they will have an eye on the trip to face Bayer Leverkusen next week.
