AC Milan are looking for a new striker to replace Olivier Giroud and they have turned back to Jonathan David for a couple of key reasons, according to a report.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) confirms that Milan will invest in a new centre-forward during the summer transfer window to try and replace Giroud’s goals, given that the Frenchman confirmed his departure yesterday in an emotional interview.

Despite the links with Joshua Zirkzee of Bologna and Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, it is Jonathan David who is once again rising in the estimations of the Milan management because they see him as an ‘opportunity’.

The reason for that is simply: David’s contract expires in just over a year (30 June 2025) and therefore they believe that the Ligue 1 side could be convinced to part with him for a figure of around €30m, which is way below the asking price for Zirkzee and Sesko.

The paper also highlights  that there have always been good relations between Milan and Lille and, in the past, deals like those for Rafael Leão and Mike Maignan went through quickly. David is wanted by Napoli too, who are looking to replace Victor Osimhen, so there is competitions.

So far this season the Canada international has scored 26 goals and provided nine assists in 46 matches across all competitions, having recovered after a tough first half of the campaign.
